Here’s what I think the truth is: We are all addicts of fossil fuels in a state of denial, about to face cold turkey.
– Kurt Vonnegut
Many reputable scientists say global climate change is real. First of all, to clarify any potential confusion, let it be stated that “global climate change” is politically correct and “global warming” is not (some are using this year’s record-breaking cold winter as a valid argument against global warming, granted they are most likely not the most scientifically minded “journalists”). We should not be worried about the earth heating up, rather we should be worried about another ice age.
There is a lot of criticism from the right, as there always is:
Obviously the two women Sean was discussing the issue with are of the highest level of intelligence and have the most qualifications to speak critically of such an issue.
Aside from FOX News’s desire to drive this country into hell and the fact Big Oil is paying off people to lie about climate change, so what?
So what if it is a lie. So what if it is a hoax. Who cares? Why are people complaining about it? Global Climate Change or not we should still be taking care of our environment. If pollution really isn’t causing the climate to change, it is killing us and it is killing wildlife.
The right-wingers using the Bible as a political argument should know better! If religion and politics are doomed to be the continuing future of this country let me bring up one point. Genesis chapter 1; verses 26-30:
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. 29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
It is there in that little book. If you, reader, believe in God, then (s)he put us in charge of this earth to replenish and subdue it. God didn’t tell humanity to destroy the Earth. God told humanity to take care of earth. I don’t care what anyone’s faith is. Personally, I am not a Christian but I still believe we have a duty to take care of the world we live in.
Continuing on:
To some, Climate Change might a big issue. Its existence is arguable (though, not really, it’s actually pretty clear), but what is not arguable is the fact that our oil-dependent society is the cause for all of our current problems.
Few people give Jimmy Carter the credit he deserves for predicting the failure of our current situation. Jimmy Carter proposed a radical idea that would have lifted our oil-dependency on the Middle-East. So what happened? Regan ignored Carter and the rest is history. Osama warned us to get out, we didn’t so 9/11 happened.
So if anyone is to blame for the war in Iraq or 9/11 it is the Regan administration. Jimmy Carter gave this country a huge warning only to be ignored.
This world has the technology for clean cars (there is an air powered car in development now) and we had the technology for electric cars before they were powered by oil. Oil provided a simple solution to make cars go faster, so we threw away any potential for researching more efficient electric cars and went with oil. Any time new technology comes up for clean energy cars, the oil companies run campaigns to smear and destroy the ideas.
Oil companies would be smart to stop defining themselves as oil companies and define themselves as energy companies. They would be able to make money if they just switched over, but instead they continue a business model that is stubborn and greedy.
I don’t care if someone thinks Obama was born on another planet or if they think that “the gays” are going to “corrupt our children.” Whatever, those are issues that people can agree and disagree on all they want, but taking care of the earth is an unarguable responsibility of the human race. If we don’t take care of the earth, we will die at either our own demise or by the hand of mother nature as she rids herself of a pest.

This is not about common sense; it is about control. This Congress does not let details and public opinion stand in their way. They want Socialism-Communism; that is what must be disarmed. There is a better way than Socialism and Capitalism, yet it enriches the people and has all working for the benefit of all without government oppression. God warns against debt, interest, insurance, seeking riches and honors, pride and covetousness. He has true freedom and independence. We can turn to a garden paradise lifestyle instead of the employment lifestyle that caused the world problems.
The only reason the Climate Change idea is still alive is that poor nations think they will get money from rich nations. That is another lying bribe to get nations to sign away their authority and give the UN entity control over their nations. That is an illusion that will disappear with details.
We are making jobs just for the sake of making jobs, seeking riches while destroying ourselves. The only sustainable and reasonable solution is to “retire.” We can turn to a garden paradise lifestyle with trees, plants and pets that provide fresh food around us. That solves “climate change” and pollution, disease, energy crisis, war, immigration, financial crises, and social problems at the same time. Any other solution causes other problems, takes away our freedoms and is not even a good delay.
God warned against nations joining for protection and prosperity in Psalms 1 and 2, II Chronicles 16:7-12; and 20:35-37. It is counter-productive and opens a nation up to deceptions, corruption, abuses and delays.

God has solutions to world problems we created by ignoring His wisdom.
Marie, thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my post!
I agree with you that we need to retract some of our foreign policy. We are digging ourselves into holes by invading other countries. However, I don’t think we should become isolationists. It is important that we keep (positive) relations with other countries. The Bible does bring up some good points, however, I believe we must turn to our fellow man in order to correct our wrongdoings. God will not create a paradise for us (and for those who are Bible Fundamentalists, apparently he did create one for us, and we messed up that chance), so we must take what we have and work with that for whatever motives (pleasing your God, bettering humanity, etc).
However, I disagree with your statement that congress wants socialism-communism. Socialism-Communism are dirty distorted words that we have been fed and trained to hate. Honestly, if we were going towards Socialism-Communism we would be better off. In Britain, citizens get free health care and weeks of paid vacation. They are happier. It is the same in France. Also, in France they are free to protest. Americans, however, are not free to protest because a) we need permits and b) we have been scared into submission to a point that we are too demoralized to act on our frustrations.
Socialism-Communism is a model that is not run by corporations. America is run by corporations in a Capitalistic system. Lobbyists pay off congress so that certain legislation will be passed. The people have no say because the people are too scared. That’s almost fascism.
While I believe that the idea of garden life would work, we live in a modern world where it is impossible to live that way. Even if it was possible, it would not switch over quickly, so we must act where we can in the regards we are able. We must unite humanity, recognize and reconcile our differences, and treat each other human being with respect and dignity. In order to be truly happy in this world, we must throw away both our stubborn ignorance and our greed.
